A true passion for reproductive and children’s health and wellbeing is what drew me to midwifery. I completed a Science degree at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia during which time I was fortunate to travel to Jamaica, Cuba and Mexico where I worked on various development projects aimed at empowering people through health care, education and herbal medicine farming.
Following graduation I spent several years traveling , spending most of my time climbing, hiking, and adventure seeking through much of Australia and Southeast Asia. Upon returning to Canada I spent four years studying at the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine where I graduated as a Naturopathic Doctor. While planning a clinical focus in reproductive and children’s health, following the birth of my daughter with midwives in 2008 I knew that I wanted more. I wanted to be present for people not just throughout their pregnancies but also at their births and in the immediate post-partum period; it seemed a natural connection. When my son was born at home in 2012 it was yet another personal reminder of how important it is for me to be able to provide care within the midwifery model. I completed my midwifery training here in Calgary at Mount Royal University .
It is with sincere gratitude that I would welcome the opportunity to be involved in your pregnancy journey and the sacred moments during which your baby is welcomed into the world. I look forward to meeting you and your family.
