Carly Scrymgeour, R.M.

My passion for birth began when I was pregnant with my first child in 1995. Through this journey I learned that pregnancy and birth are transformative events that shape who we become. After the birth of my second child, I knew I was meant to be a midwife, guiding
birthing people and their families through their own transformations.

After completing an Honours degree in Political Science at the University of Calgary, I worked for several years supporting adults with disabilities in employment before enrolling in Midwifery Sciences at Bastyr University in Kenmore, Washington. Since my graduation in 2012, with a Master of Science in Midwifery, I have provided Midwifery care to clients in Calgary and surrounding communities.

I have served my profession as a member of the Alberta Association of Midwives board of directors, an instructor of Emergency Skills Workshop for Midwives and of the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). I have had the great opportunity to teach both midwifery and medical students in clinical settings as a preceptor, serve as a clinical instructor to midwifery students as an Assistant Professor in the Bachelor of Midwifery program at Mount Royal University in Calgary. It is my great fortune and honour to hold space for birthing families, to help educate and empower clients to make informed choices about their care, and to be part of their pregnancy, birth and postpartum journeys.

On a more personal note, I am fortunate to be Mom to three amazing children.

I look forward to meeting you.
