My midwifery journey began about 8 years ago when I wanted to make a career change. Calgary has been my home for over 15 years and, during the flood of 2013, it struck me how much I wanted to become a more integral part of my community. I knew I wanted to help people in both a very practical and deeply meaningful way. I have always been passionate about human rights and advocating for others. By increasing my knowledge of birth history and current practices I became extremely passionate about midwifery and knew I needed to pursue it! I obtained my Bachelor of Midwifery at Mount Royal College and started my professional practice within Calgary. I was privileged to have done a third year practicum with the beautiful midwives at Briar Hill Midwives in 2018 and am extremely pleased to be back serving in this birthing community.
Through midwifery I am privileged to support families in making informed choices and advocate for their desires of prenatal care and birthing options. I see value in all peoples and that is the lens through which I support and care for families of all diversities. I continue to be humbled by birth and birthing people and have profound honor and respect for both.
When I am not catching babies, I love spending time with my partner and teenage child. Our favorite things to do are adventures in the mountains, whether it’s a short evening mountain bike or a week-long paddle trip, we love being active outside together! I also am an avid knitter and love lattes and chocolate.
I look forward to meeting you and supporting you through this incredibly amazing adventure of pregnancy and birth!
